her hat

Whilst low key, the image feels muddy and lacking in contrast - the true white of the hat does draw the eye, as presumably was your intent, but the scene doesn't hold my interest.

Low key, and the title suits the image - indeed, it sums up my feelings when viewing. For me, it doesn't engage me - it just isn't interesting enough to fully pique my curiosity. The empty chairs, bins and trolley are the interesting part to me, but the bright area of sky draws my eye up to the carpark, and I am left just thinking meh.

The subject is really rather bright, some brightness in a generally low key image can work well, but here the entire subject is exposed normally. More to the point, and the reason I have voted this one just a 4, the items appear to be floating in mid air. The black background is totally black, no texture, and no sense of the wine bottle et al sitting on a surface.

Whilst I like many 'arty' photos, I am not usually fan of what I would describe as painting imitations, but I make an exception here. The poses, the moment is so perfectly captured. I find myself intrigued by the story - the slightly old fashioned dresses and shoes, the sashes, and similar hats - are the ladies dancers - or were they? There is something very graceful about the pose of the more slender lady. the wind catching the skirts adds the necessary movement to give the sense of a fleeting moment.

I would be intrigued to see a version of the image edited in a more straightforward manner, but I suspect that I would still like this one best. I now have an interesting internal debate with myself about photography/art/painting....

Bumping from 7 to 9.

I've revisited this a couple of times, and am bumping to a 9. It has a real arty, illustration type feel to it - I can imagine it as a framed poster or print.

Edit, back for another view - and another bump. That's your lot :D
