A wonderful smileby fredahenryComment: As this photo was loading, and before I had seen the title, I thought 'What a wonderful smile'! Good tonal range, and a pleasing composition - but oh, what a smile! |

Self Portrait in natural lightby littlegettComment: I find myself in two minds over this portrait. On the one hand there are elements that I really like - the eyes in particular, but on the other hand there are elements that I really don't like - for example the heavy sharpening. I also find the evenness of the light slightly strange, and I wonder if tone-mapping has been used? I just can't make my mind up about this one - one to re-visit later in the challenge, I guess! |

Age of Innocenceby mia67Comment: A very pleasing portrait of a pretty model. The pose is really appealing, very natural. The subtle post-processing has also produced a very natural and fresh looking photo. The only negative is the distracting object behind the girl's hair. |

The Violinistby gsalComment: A candid portrait that works well. The light is wonderful; it not only picks out the skin tones well, but also the rich mahogony colour of the violin. The setting is bizarre, which adds to the photos 'story' and appeal. My only real gripe is with the pedestrian immediately behind the violinist. None the less, a strong photograph. |

By The Windowby DUCATISTAComment: A well considered portrait. I am currently unconvinced by the hand (I had at first glance taken it to be the models)- why is it there, what does it add? I shall revsit later in the week and see if my perception changes. The dark background combined with the border works very well. I particular like the way the light catches the necklace. |

Web of Terrorby DrAchooComment: I really shouldn't have looked at this photograph just before going to bed. I woke at about 2.00am today in a blind panic, convinced tha the most enormous spider had just scuttled over my face. I felt physically sick, covered in goosebumps, and my scalp hurt where my hair was trying to stand on end - it was a positive relief when I realised that it was a mouse that the cat had brought me... |

Rasta Colorsby facesastheycomeComment: I love the look of laid back bemusement on the child's face - it's a shame the Dad doesn't look a little happier. The light seems very harsh, and the colour caste is not very flattering. |

Untitledby Rook3000Comment: It is a self-portrait taken in natural light, and it is in focus, but apart from that it has nothing to hold my interest. |
