Caught by Surprise...both Subject and Photographerby marcbentonComment: That moment of coming across an animal as large as a deer is quite magical - and that comes across in this photo. There may be motion blur from a bit of camera shake, the focus maybe off a tad, and the composition could be better, but the sense of immediacy, of stumbling upon a part of our world that we are not normally privileged to witness is all there. |

Swan Lakeby M_JayneComment: Gorgeous play of light on the water. You have done well balancing the exposure for both the intense darks and the white of the swan. |

Urban Wildlifeby ivale28Comment: Strong composition, and good choice of dof - I might have preferred just a little looser framing top and bottom, and with marginally more room to the left |

Flying Highby CraftyComment: The placement of the pelican against the blue of the sky, with the clouds subtly framing works well. |

Big Bullby silverhawkComment: Certainly a magnificent animal, and you have clearly managed to get very close. The woodland in the background provides good context, but I do find the composition slightly awkward - its all subjective, but I would probably have pulled back somewhat to get more of the stag into the frame. |

Rice Paper Butterflyby Purple_GirlComment: What a wonderful butterfly! Here in England I have seen so few this summer, so it is lovely seeing photos of them! i appreciate the way you have included the plant to give context, but in this instance, I do feel that the composition could be strengthened by cropping a little more from the top. |

Watching the extinction line...by PrashComment: I do feel that this might have been stronger if it hadn't been framed quite so tightly; in particular, I find the cut off ears rather awkward. There are a number of 'spots' where the detail appears missing, which I do find somwaht distracting. |

Cowbird Conversationby lynnesiteComment: These are somewhat similar to the ubiquitous European starling - a good take on the challenge; I particularly like the way the the conversational birds are sitting on a telephone line! |
