Pearls of Wisdomby KelliComment: I don't think this is anything like as successful as you first posting. I find the rim of the coral, and the patch bottom left draw the eye, but without anything to settle on. The processing gives the image the impression of being out of focus, but without a purpose. I've been a bit harsh, I'm afraid... |

Lighthouse Beach, Midwinterby Bear_MusicComment: At first glance I thought the figure was standing still, and the photo had a profound effect on me. On looking more closely I see that the figure is actually walking across the 'wasteland' and the image loses some of its power. The photo that I want to see (with the figure standing stock still staring out of the back of the photo) is, perhaps, a statement about myself - a desire for the world to leave me alone, and yet at the same time an acknowledgment that such a solitary life would be intensely lonely to the point of pain. Not often a photo can provoke such strong feelings within me, even if they are based partly on the first impression rather than the reality.
marnet brings up an interesting idea of 'an expression' of reality. That is something I want to think about more. |

Bok Choyby Bear_MusicComment: An interesting take! I really like the processing - the border and graininess - although I am not sure that the lens flare adds anything for me. The light on the leaf is lovely, and really shows of the veins, colour and texture. At the end of the day it is a photo I enjoy looking at once, but not sure it is one I would return to. |

Remembering Summerby NeVeRynComment: Love the title! The sharp spider's web adds a really nice touch to the image - it seems to be pulling the plant, which in turn is strongly resisting. I agree with marnet that it may be worth playing with saturation, and also perhaps a slight tweak with levels or curves, as it seems slightly dull, as opposed to gently subdued. A photo that articulates something to me, and that suits an impressionistic take. |

Mesa Verdeby pmichaudComment: I think maybe you are trying to distill the subject down to a simplified view of the structure. Not sure it works entirely - to me the walls and other features seem as though they are receding into the distance, and I want to reach out and pull them closer. I also find myself trying to define what various elements are - obviously not what you want with impressionism, and that may very well be a fault of mine as a viewer. |

Feelersby KelliComment: The processing adds to the weirdness of the subject - fascinating! |

The Brideby PennyStreetComment: Really good catch. I wonder what the woman on the right is thinking - she is certainly giving the couple the once over! |
