Reelsby M_JayneComment: the repeating shapes is a good concept - i am not sure about the perspective and crop - it seems that a slightly higher angle and more square crop may have had more impact |

Business Card2by BradComment: I like how the lighting pulls our eyes to your name. Great stuff and my favorite of the three choices you have here. |

Terrible Beautyby jonfrommkComment: Jon - I am likely your 'landscape' work lately. You appear to be finding the good light as displayed by the lovely play that the sunlight has with the water and clouds and smoke/steam from the factory. it got a 7 from me during voting. |

Practical Geometryby jonfrommkComment: I quite like this a lot - it jumps out as mathematics to me - geometry, etc. Very good stuff. The choice of crop is right on the money. |

By The Dawn's Early Lightby jonfrommkComment: Jon
Pretty scene with lovely mirror like water. Capturing the sun between the branches was a good idea. For shots like this, you may want to consider a smaller f-stop (and a tripod!) to get that lovely star like appearance of the sun (or lights).
nice minimal editing as well to give it a real feel. |

Service Without a Smile by CharleneComment: Edgy stuff - the light streaming in from behind, the disinterested diners, the waitress overwhelmed - a bold effort for a FS. I think an area that could have really helped was a more purposeful focus on the waitress and her discouragement. |

Years of Tormentby CharleneComment: Charlene - what a great title to complement the feel of the image. Component wish, I think the image is very solid - the face slightly at angle, the lace and fine work to frame the dolls head, the misplaced hair - but I think it is lacking something. The black and white conversion seems very flat in my opinion. Maybe a bit of sepia tone to give it an older, used, and forgotten feel. Also, maybe a slightly different treatment on the composition may have helped. A more square crop, with focus more directly on the face itself, and lighting (likely from the side) to emphasize the nicks and scratches and neglect that this pretty doll endured. |
