Tropical Dreams by jotagaComment: A big congrats on your first ribbon. I could tell from your first entry that you had the vision to score well - I am just happy to see you were rewarded so quickly. Nice work and really good shot. |

Yellow perilby LutchenkoComment: nice shot will - a couple of comments about your opinion that selective desat cost you score. I think there are a couple of other reasons that some may voted you down - the crop seems a bit tight on the top of the head and the brickwork seems to prevent the shot from really seeing the motion - if that makes sense. Also, some voters hate borders of any type and your choice of the yellow piping there just adds to it.
Personally, I like the shot and would have given you a 6 or 7 if I ended up voting. Cheers! |

Perfectly Roundby franktheyankComment: Leaving you a comment on your image because of a comment I saw in the a thread you posted.
This image does contain stones/ pebbles/ rocks, so it clearly does meet the challenge requirements. But I am afraid that it lacks in the interest category. Part of what separates the low scoring images to those that score well is a creativity in both lighting, composition, and artistic vision.
There appears to be a general lack of sharpness to the image as shown in the image presented - possibly due to the way the image was resized. I am not sure what sharpening technique you are using for web display, but if you would like some pointers on how to improve this, go ahead and PM me.
I hope you don't mind, but here is a quick adjustment of your entry using some USM to sharpen.
This has more punch than your entry from a sharpness point of view, but the image still lacks that certain something that really draws the viewer in and makes them want to linger, if that makes sense. |
