Shallow depth of batting

I think this is a well composed and delivered shot. I think where this one misses out a bit in the deep DOF is no subject really close to us. The cricket players, the trees and the balloon are all far away from the camera. Altering the composition by having something like a cricket bat on the ground close to the camera in the foreground, the players behind, and the balloow way out (all in sharp focus) would probably have garnered you a ribbon.

i think you did a very nice job with the low key lighting of this rose. I am not a fan of the choice of crop and composition. Centering the rose gives this a static feel and the long horizontal makes the image look squished. Adding more negative space above and below the image would help this. Also, placing the rose off center (following more the rule of thirds) might give this one a bit more impact.
