The Mysterious Cult by gyabanComment: Very well done and congrats on the placement. I am not really a fan of the more 'graphic artist' approach to photography, but of those in the challenge, yours is clearly the most creative and engaging. |

Freshhh! by h2Comment: Oliver - excuses! excuses! I did notice the bottle top out of focus and it did cost you a point or two. It is amazing how such a small detail as DOF can make the difference.
Anyway - good work as always - at least the splash is in focus. One of these days you will get a hang of studio stuff ;-P |

The last drop of water by IreneMComment: Good to see you back Irene. I hope you are starting to feel better - health issues are rough stuff.
I left a comment during voting and was editing it but somehow it got lost. Anyway, I loved the composition and the colors but I almost wonder if the image is a bit oversharpened around the cap of the bottle. |

SymmeTreeby snapturtleComment: I bet this looks great as a big print. Very cool effect of the leading lines and the centered 'symmetree'. |

Tiny Patchby onepurpleroseComment: Very pretty work here - the shallow depth of field helps to emphasize the color and overall shape rather than the details and works great. I think your score may have suffered because the shot did not immediately tell the voter that this was urban. To score well on DPC, you often need to show the voter that the image obviously fits the challenge title. It is important to remember that not all voters read the challenge description (but it is worthwhile to try to match both).
This is not to say that you SHOULD do this...but it is a way to score higher in challenges. Just remember that scoring high is not the only goal or measure here.... Message edited by author 2011-03-21 08:42:22. |
