A Horse Storyby
JunieMoonComment: Hi Junie - i was looking through the photos in this challenge and noticed this was your photo. I had meant to leave this one a comment during voting, but I guess it didn't stick...so here it goes
I can see what was so interesting to you about this location - the nice warm lighting, the beautiful horse, the intense greens and blues of the grass and hills. The image itself didn't quite come together as I think it could have. Here a couple of things I noticed:
1. the positioning of a centered horizon often creates a static feel - placing less of the mostly uninteresting sky in the image would have brought more detail and life to the shot
2. the fence line in front is actually pretty interesting - a lower angle on this shot to bring more of the fence in view would have added some nice textures (everyone likes a barbed wire fence!)
3. even with all the sky and grass - it seems a little 'closed' - taking the photo down and moving back a bit to bring more fence and more of the foreground in view would likely help add those textures and reduce the bright sky
4. the sky seems a bit bright and seems to overwhelm the photo a bit - taking down the levels on the brights (or having less sky in view) would help here
It is a great spot and you did a nice job of capturing the warmth of the day. I think a few small adjustments would have let us see that beautiful story that you saw when you took this photo.
