Run Downby pipersdComment: Nice building! I like the the perspective to get the overhang in while leaving some room on both sides. I think it is a bit dark all around and may suffer from a mostly centered composition.
By being so tightly cropped, I am not sure if it really gives the feeling of abandonment as much as a more wide spaced image could do for you. The top rated entries in the challenge seemed to create the feeling that the whole area was abandoned, not just the building. |

a lonely winter's dayby annigComment: Anne - Well...I loved it. Sorry to see this one got such a low score. The use of snow to create a feeling of abandonment and cold works really well for me. Maybe it is a bit tight cropped for the DPC crowd. |

Architecture...Lost toTimeby dsternerComment: Deb - Really nice details. It's too bad about the score - I really thought this was excellent and should have given you a high 5s. I wonder if a wider crop to provide more contrast and a little more real estate on the screen would have helped you a bit...maybe next time! |

Mangleby xianartComment: Excellent image and fantastic lighting. It really captures the feeling of abandonment. I am not sure why this received such a low score. I thought it was excellent |

Shatteredby RetroesqueComment: I love this one and gave it a 7 during voting. The textures created by the broken windows and the high contrast created by the bushes, the steel wall, and the windows really gives this one some pop! (I really can't believe the score!!!) |

Norwich Hospital for the Insaneby brownsmComment: Steve! I love this one - very different from many of your entries and it really works. I think this was greatly underappreciated. I didn't get to vote, but I would have given this at least an 8. I have always wanted to go shoot at Norwich, but I was always afraid to have the security guys show up!
The composition and the way the doorways lead you into the darkness really adds to the metaphor.

Bank's Greed, Farmer's Demiseby CharleneComment: Charlene - I love the details and distorted perspective to add to the drama of the image. That is one harsh sky! But you did a nice job controlling it. |

Still Occupied ?by SandyPComment: What a great space! And a darn nice photo too! I think the use of the moving person really adds something great to the image - i just wonder about the placement of the stairwell and the doorway being slightly cropped out - but that is SOOOOOO minor! |

Time goes byby AlainComment: Alain - I like the high contrast treatment on this one. The separation of the sky from the roof is too cool! |
