I disagree with the "too easy and simple" comment. I really like this photo for its simplicity. Did you use an unsharp mask on it? Looks just a touch fuzzy toward the outer edges of leaves in back. I like the rounded feel of the composition. Nice entry.

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear...you shout and no one seems to hear.

I like the rainbow effect behind your daughter, and also good composition (though I might have cropped a bit more off left side - feels a little long). This may have been over-sharpened a bit, and the saturation is definitely tweaked. This would have probably been stronger if you could have used advanced editing to pop the rainbow but not Gretchen's features. All in all an interesting entry, though, and I love the expression :-)

Another very solid entry, Julianne! Nice capture and good composition. I'd like to see this with a little shorter DOF to make the Limpkin pop more, but I realize how hard that is when you've got one chance to take a shot. Good job!

At first I thought this was just another photo of bricks in the wall - but there appears to be a face in the cream-colored area that adds interest. Deliberate? 6.

I like the composition, but I think this would be a lot stronger if the whole chess board were in the photo. I guess this could have a deeper meaning as a social statement as well - not sure if that was your intent. 6.
