Beneath the dirtby bryantbusComment: This is a really creative take on dirt with just the one breast covered. There is something that looks a bit forced in the pose - like the model is not "comfortable in her own skin." The dirt on the chin also detracts from the continuity, I think. Do you have any outtakes? Would be interesting to see other poses. |

Nose Dirtby KelliComment: I'm surprised this didn't do a little better - not enough dirt for the voters, is my guess. The lighting is nice but the focus could be a bit sharper IMO. Your son is adorable, by the way! |

Seeds Not Includedby ElaineComment: Good composition and definitely meets the challenge! Lots of dirt here. If this were a bit sharper (camera shake?) this would have done very well, I think. |

Dishingby xianartComment: The expression in the eyes is fantastic, really makes this shot. Nicely OOB entry that still fits the challenge. |

Dirt road, vineyardby MelethiaComment: Deb,
You did an awesome got with post process on this shot. Almost looks like HDR. Great composition and vanishing lines. The greens really pop. This was one of my favorites of challenge. |

"Dinner's ready."by JuliBocComment: Julianne,
This is so cute, and what a great capture! Every time I try to get close to one of these guys, they run off. Great composition, and the expression on the groundhog's face is excellent. Perfect exposure, too. Talk about a photo that meets the challenge perfectly. Great job! |

A dog's life...not so bad!by bmartuchComment: Hi Bob,
First, please note you got six 10's for this shot, which is great. In other words, a lot of people really love this photo!
I'm middle-of-the road about this photo. What I love: the perspective, the expression, and the snow on the dog's jowels. Really gives a great sense of playfulness and captures the essence of the moment. What kept me from scoring higher: I found the DOF a bit short (would love to have seen the eyes and ears in crisp focus) and wish that top ear were in photo. Finally - and I think this is the biggest element to me - the snow in the background is very bright and drew my eyes away from the subject. It may look different on different monitors, though. I've had that issue myself with several photos, especially my peacock love shot (looks great on my moniter and like absolute *&$% on my hubby's monitor). What I would suggest: perhaps try just a bit of dodging to the whites of your dog's eyes (obviously not too much or he'll end up looking like Casper the Ghost.)
I realize how hard it is to put all those elements together when shooting animals, as the darn things just won't stay still :-)
Cheers,
Noraneko

A slow lonely deathby sickdogComment: Chris,
I gave this a 7 when voting. I thought it was very well composed, especially for street (my favorite type of photography, but very difficult, I know). Obviously, it was the lack of focus that kept me from scoring it higher. You didn't miss on the emotive or message, though, and thus it is a strong photo in my opinion even with the slight blur. Great job. |

Casino Royale - The New 007by JawnyRicoComment: The adjustment to the blown highlight on your hand definitely strengthens this shot. My eye went straight to the hand when I voted (I gave this a 6), due to it being the brightest area in the shot. I still think it is a bit bright in relation to the highlights on the face, but overall I think this was a very strong entry, and something you should be proud of. |
