Something Lost in Translationby raishComment: Interesting. I actually wondered if anyone would pick up on the alternate meanings of the word 'bad' in other languages when I first saw this challenge.
I like the idea, but feel you needed to add something to give it the feeling of being your own, versus a photo of an Ikea ad. Still, there is something captivating about it. I didn't vote but probably would have given you a 6, as it is refreshingly different. |

A Barn Winterby jaysonmcComment: Jayson,
I am a fan of simplicity that is technically well done, and think you succeeded quite nicely with this. I was one of your higher scores (7). I know in your comments you mentioned lack of pure white, but I see some whites in the rooftop and small area of the sky on my monitor. In fact, this seems like a very well metered shot to me, and we all know how trick snow is!
The one thing that seems problematic is the horizon - I think it may be a tad skewed to the left.

grape mirageby cheleComment: I really like the sense of motion provided by the ribbon running through this photo, and the DOF is interesting. |

Fruit Bowlby GrandadComment: The colors really pop, and this is very sharp. The composition feels a little crowded, though. |

The Evil Appleby DjabordjaborComment: Very clever idea, and nice composition. Focus could be a little sharper, and lighting is a tad harsh. |

Day 12: Curvesby levyj413Comment: Wow, what a great triptych! You are so strong with architectural photos. I imagine this selling well at Eastern Market or elsewhere in DC. Great job. |

Smoke Calla Lilyby levyj413Comment: This is a beautiful photo and I commend you for trying something new! The smoke really does look like a calla lily. I prefer the white background to the black, as feel the subtleties in the smoke stand out better. It would be fascinating to do this as a double exposure and add a green leaf or stem (also very difficult, I imagine). |

Griefby JuliBocComment: I think this is a seriously underrated shot. In fact, I find it the most artistic of any of your photos. The lighting is superb, and it is obvious you had a concept in mind, which you managed to execute quite well.
I see from your comments that you cropped slightly. I would be very interested to see the original, as I think the photo could benefit from more negative space on the right side. |
