Untitledby Bruce_the_RobertComment: This definitely fits the challenge very nicely, and is well-focused with overall nice lighting. Some things that maybe could have brought this a higher score - there are a lot of branches, and so it's a little hard to focus on anything specifically. I'm especially distracted by the branches on the left side and small ones coming up from the bottom. I do think you have a very strong background with some nice variations in shades that give depth. |

Pride Before A Fallby SteveJComment: I like the idea here a lot, and the title is great, as is the curve presented by the dominoes. I suspect technical issues brought you down - the white balance looks a little off here - there's a bit of a yellowish cast to the dominoes and a gray cast to background. There are also a few bits of dust/hair that you maybe could have cloned from the background, since this is advanced. Mainly, though, I think the shadows may have been problematic to some viewers (including myself). I did not think they were deliberately used to enhance the photo (though of course I could be wrong on this), but instead the result of uneven lighting (I'm guessing you used flash here). If you have a light tent, this would be an interesting study to try again, as you could eliminate the shadows. Anyway, just my .02, hope it is helpful! |

The new ones always find waterby MelethiaComment: Well Deb, this didn't do too badly after all :-) I've already commented on the Critical Mass thread about this one, but reiterate that I really like the tilt you chose and just that tiny drop of red on the golf ball. |

Hidden Lady by DrAchooComment: See, Doc, you can do great things with live ladybugs as well :-) Congrats on your third place - I know you were afraid of that infamous 4th, LOL. |

Long Time Masterby BAMartinComment: Nice take on the challenge with a creative idea. It is well composed and well lit. The slightly blown highlights aren't troublesome here. I think it may have scored even better if the viewer had more of a feeling of interaction with the two people, but the tight crop does show the master's belt well. |

Across the Boardby raishComment: Peter, people should be more open-minded. This is a fabulous interpretation of the challenge. Sure, the background is a bit distracting, but it is a most interesting shot with more layers than the eye candy often seen here. |

A Signature of Crowsby posthumousComment: Well Don, I was one of your 9's, and would give you the Posthumous award if I could, LOL. Utterly fantastic. I love the movement here. The only thing (and it's a nit) that kept me from a 10 is the curving line at the top - it breaks up the continuity for me. BTW - the grass at the bottom looks like writing in a beautiful script. I think this has to go into faves. |
