Homageby TammerComment: Not sure how a woody will be received but oh well.
That aside you have some blown highlights on woody's arm which draw the eye away from everything else in the scene. |

Desert Cowboyby qvfd153Comment: A little dark. I'd like to see more light on his body as well as his face. I like the emotion captured in what I can see of his face. Unfortunately, our sad cowboy has a cactus growing out of his hat. |

Lone Rangerby StructorComment: Looks more like The Man with No Name (ie The character Clint Eastwood portrays in The Good The Bad and The Ugly as well as a Fistful of Dollars and a Few Dollars more).
Aside from that, the mood is great in this shot and is definitely a good depiction of the rugged western gunslinger. A fun interpretation of the challenge. |

A Moment of Silenceby sfmorrisComment: Nice tribute. I really like the pastoral feeling you've captured. The horse appears to be bowing his head in silence too. I can also see he wants to sniff at the model too! :)
Great capture and one that I am sure Sean would have liked. |

Living Freeby swordandsigilComment: Not sure about the processing but there's no denying that this little one is cute. I'd like to see more space in front of him to give him something to run into. |

New Ties, Old Railsby bobnospumComment: I'd have to say that black and white is a good choice for this subject. Desaturation worked okay here but using the channel mixer often gets far better results. (In GIMP: Filters -> Colors - Channel Mixer...)
I'd agree with colorcarnival in taking a different perspective. Maybe laying on the tracks themselves (if they aren't in use) might be an approach. Rails can convey motion and can conjure up thoughts of travel. Use the rails to take us somewhere.
You also mention you had highlights in the gravel you didn't care for. Shooting from the other side would have made the scene have easier lighting to shoot.
Hopefully these comments will help. |

Water Cowboyby acoppolaComment: So I might not be the first to indicate this but I probably won't be the last.
This does not meet the challenge.
Its a nice boat shot but it has nothing to do cowboys and would have been more appropriate to enter in a free study. |
