Dirty Twisted Nailby snafflesComment: I gave this a 5 because something about the dirt looks over-processed, perhaps over-sharpened or over-saturated or both. Even the colors of the nail look flat. I like the composition, though, and the simplicity of the nail in the dirt. |

Mother Earth\'s red dressby seeComment: I gave it a 6, because I like the textures in the red rock/earth. The sky is what kept me from scoring it higher. I agree with the other comments that said blue would do it. |

Beneath the dirtby bryantbusComment: Chris, I don't understand what this is about. Does the dirt represent a tire track and therefore someone who has been "run over"? Also, the dark cheek, chin, and neck distract from the dirty track. For those reasons, I only gave this a 4. |

Rollin' Down County Road 209by KivetComment: I like this shot and gave it a 7. The countryside looks like it might be vast, and I think I would like the shot better if I could see more of the landscape. The land on the sides of the road is a little dark, and the road is cut off by the hill -- doesn't lead anywhere. I like the truck, which lends to the rural aspect of the image. |

Nose Dirtby KelliComment: The focus on this bothered me a bit, so I gave it a 6. The eyes are nice and sharp and bright. I like the dirt because it looks genuine, whereas almost all other dirty face entries were contrived. It's fun to see your son -- he's very cute, even when not feeling well. |

Dirt road, vineyardby MelethiaComment: I'm surprised I didn't leave a comment when I voted, because I gave this a 10. I love everything about it -- especially the feeling I get of wanting to walk down this road and explore the countryside and distant farm. |

Dishingby xianartComment: What I didn't say below it that I really like the lighting, contrast, and processing on this shot. The B&W is very good. It looks like a professional theatrical promo. |

Seeds Not Includedby ElaineComment: Sometimes less is more. This is one of those times. This is so simple and directly to the point. I'm not bothered by the focus, and didn't even notice it until I read the other comments. Good composition. I like it. |

So Many Tools for Such a Little Thing, Dirtby noranekoComment: Well I like the composition, and I think it is a valid entry for Dirt. I've seen enough dirt to fill in the blanks, and these tools create a lot of blanks. The broom for ________ (floor dirt and sand), The scrub brush for _________ (dirty fur or walls), the forks for _________ (animal dirt), the squeegees for _________ (dirty water and/or windows). Actually you got more dirt into your shot that anyone else in the challenge.
As I said in my earlier comment, I like the color. The red wall with the red broom , and the touch of red on the squeegee contribute a lot to the composition. If it were my shot, I think I might take out the red on the fork handle. |

Public Transport Eurodirtby raishComment: I gave this a 6. I think it might be better with the seats cropped off. The color there distracts from the dirt subject. And with the seats gone, the diagonal aspect of the shot isn't such a problem. Granted, you can't tell this is a train without the seats, but you sure can tell it's dirty. And I like the color tones of the metal. |
