Waiting for penny to dropby olbolComment: I don't understand this, so I won't vote on this entry. It's a nice image, but I don't know what it has to do with procrastination. Perhaps it's an idiom in another country. |

Frankenmuth, Michiganby TwigComment: Just want to say three cheers for Michigan. I gave it and extra point because it was Frankenmuth (total 9). I like the image: the lighting, colors, and composition. I had to study it to decide if it was centered, but finally acknowledge that the tower is centered.
P.S. I must say I question the date of this shot, since there are Fall colors and no snow in the background. Must be having a VERY warm winter. Message edited by author 2007-01-11 12:07:21. |

Winter Wonderlandby bmartuchComment: Bob, sorry I didn't leave a comment during voting -- too many entries. I like woods, and I gave this shot a 7. I like the patches of sunlight on the ground snow. It makes the place friendly and non-threatening. Something about the processing has given the image a very gray appearance, and I would prefer to see the natural look of snow. |

Feathers in the Breezeby noranekoComment: This got an 8 from me. I know how hard it is to capture a really good shot of the white egrets. They hold nicely still, but the detail is hard to get in the bright light. Here the highlights are blown a little on the back and head. I wonder if Highlights/Shadows together with Exposure might restore a little of the detail in those areas. Also I wish I could see the rest of the plumage in the back. The crop looks a little tight there. I'm guessing there may have been some visual obstruction that you had to crop out.
While RUEDISCHMUTZ's "golden rule" is good, I don't think it applies here, because to me the blowing plumage is an interesting element, and a very tight crop would make a very ordinary shot. This was a good entry, and was well appreciated by the voters. Message edited by author 2007-01-10 23:41:47. |
