lantern lightby drydocComment: Not voting, just commenting. I like the color and composition. The light inside the lantern is especially nice and I like the black background. The crop seems a little tight on the sides, and the image feels a little off balance to me. I would try rotating it CW very slightly and I might tilt the little top ring toward the right. However, still life is not one of my talents, so please weigh what I have said against your other comments, and of course against your own preference. |

Ice Coldby colorcarnivalComment: What a lovely shot. The pattern of the cut crystal makes an excellent composition. I like the tilt and the DOF. The thermometer is a nice sharp contrast to the icy blue coldness of the rest of the image. |

Smokin' Hot Peppersby crikComment: I like the way the peppers are cracked. For some reason, that makes them look really hot. I wonder if the smoke would have shown up better on a black background? Black would have eliminated the shadows that seem to have distracted some of the voters. Message edited by author 2008-07-30 00:39:54. |

Arched architectureby MelethiaComment: Thanks for the recipe. The image is stunning -- particularly the light on the ceiling. I also really like the little sunlight crosses on the pavement and the tritone finish. |

Man and Fountainby figaroComment: Beautiful composition and DOF. I love the fountain bokeh and the sharp focus on the old man. He looks like he is going to make a wish, which is so poignant for a man of his age. Congratulation on your new top row entry. |

Turbo Smilesby KelliComment: I like the desat. I think what it is lacking is contrast. As Kashi said the attention goes to the bike part in the lower right. That seems to have the sharpest focus and the most contrast. I'd like to see more contrast in the eyes and smile with sharper focus there. Perhaps a High Pass layer with a mask would do it. I like the square crop and the composition, and the joy of a boy with his bike. |
