Cardinal by jmritzComment: You're right, the eye is sharp, but the beak isn't. He could have been in mid-chew; at f/8 it shouldn't be a DOF issue. I think people expect the eye and beak to have the same amount of sharpness since they're usually the same distance from the lens, and either one being soft loses you points. Plus there's the added factor that some voters were probably tired of birds by the time they got to yours!
I really like his position in the image and the eye contact is pretty darned cool. You really did get phenomenal detail in that eyeball. |

Room with a Viewby BAMartinComment: I'm kind of amused that the UMW sign in the shot is still in perfect shape while the building crumbles around it. Especially since it looks like that's in the oldest part of the building.
You'd think it being on the register of historic places would prompt someone to do something about it, but I guess no one thinks it's worth the investment. Rather sad. I can see why you wanted to tell this story. |

Water Dancerby AliciaComment: Like the high key processing and the shadow, and particularly like the wing position and the reflection. It's really cool that the wing, shadow and reflection all converge at the wingtips. Really extraordinarily good angle and timing on your part. I might dodge the face a bit to get more detail there and maybe crop a little tighter on the right and bottom so he's not so centered, but the shot is certainly better than the score it got. |

Cruisin by Candy Castleby AndyMac24Comment: Candyland! Awesome :-) I hope they haven't come out with some sort of Fruit and Veggie Land to combat this clear attempt to encourage children to like candy. |

First 'Rock' Concertby elizadebComment: Aww, it's Raggedy Ann. I had Raggedy Andy as a kid. I gave him to my oldest daughter when she was about 2. Our dog ate his face shortly thereafter ::sigh::
You did a better job caring for your memories! |
