Flight of the Storkby andrewtComment: Nice detail on this guy! Good composition, too. Still not the prettiest bird, but well-captured ;-) Is he really that yellow? I only see storks in zoos so I'm not terribly familiar with the various types. |

Beach Buddiesby sfmorrisComment: Cool heron! And very windblown. Hard to hunker down with those long legs, though. Love the detail on him and the hint of pink at the top of the shot. It would have been even cooler if he and the gull had more similar poses, but this works for me, too. |

Bombycilla garrulus - Bohemian Waxwingby salmiakkiComment: What a cool bird and a perfect story-telling capture! I can even see his little tongue :-) A blue sky might have been a better background but really, this is darn close to perfect. |

The Peregrine and the Field Mouse by DrAchooComment: Ah, the icky part of nature: critters eating critters. Looks like a rather large (and white) field mouse. Bird is beautifully sharp, as he should be. |

Call of the Wildby MAKComment: The pose here is spectacular! Absolutely spectacular. Focus and DOF are spot on. And before I digress, I voted this a 9.
But I'm going to nitpick, because the color is striking me oddly. The delineations feel artificial: the little patch of yellow he's standing in and then a soldly pinkish field behind and green and yellow in front, with no colors interspersed elsewhere. The trees in the back appear in clear bands of color. I don't know if that's processing or if it really looked that way, but it just doesn't appear natural to my eye. If he wasn't standing out well enough because of color I would have gone with B&W. Such a strong image would work well that way IMO. |

Suprise Encounterby SaraRComment: Very cooperative of him to pause in a perfectly framed open area! Gorgeous beast. |
