In answer to your forum thread question:

I much prefer this out take to your submission for a number of reasons:

1) The apple is important in this photo (as it should be for the Healthy Food challenge it was meant for)
2) It is still the same strong sunlight, but because she isn't squinting, it isn't worrying me.
3) She actually looks happy about that apple (again, important because of the challenge it was for).
4) This photo doesn't feel as "snap-shotty".

Interesting idea, but I think it would have worked better if you had done a more accurate and complete job with the sparkler.

Hidden face or not, those balls (complete with the colours, glow, and shadows) look weird enough to pass as paranormal.
I like it, but I think it would be even better if you had done something else with them, something more than just having them sit there.

I like it, it is sufficiently weird enough to look other-worldly.
Very simple, and possibly lacking an actual subject, but it still works for me.

I'm rarely a fan of high-key shots, but in this case it works.
I don't like her being so centered because the space to the right doesn't add anything useful to the shot, but the suggestion of the figures on the other side is great! 8
