The bird was supposed to be the main subject. In this photo, the bird is a tiny silhouette, nearly lost among the branches. I don't think this photo is very suitable for this particular challenge, but away from the challenge, I looooooove it!

The composition, the goofy color of the sky, the stark silhouettes ....... all together make a striking photo! The slight noise works well, too, in fact I think you could even have a lot more grain/noise in this shot. Very nice!

Well spotted! The highlights are a bit of a problem, but the composition and the whole mood make up for it. I love it! 9

What a lovely, romantic scene - wonder how long they've been married?
I like the birds, the scenery, the colors...... nice shot, indeed!

you're looking for pure white..... hmmm..... I think most of that is in the light on the background - lots of bright light and a bit of distance. Possibly a glossy surface like melamine.

My monitor is well calibrated, so I am seeing all sorts of spots on your background :-(
The first thing that came to my mind was: "wow, imagine that mask suspended against the sky on a dark night - fishing line, perhaps? Then clone away the bits you see. Bet it would look stunning!

The noise in this photo is a bit unfortunate, but I like the balanced composition of moon vs branch.

I don't like the out-of-focus flower center front, but I looooooove the crazy angle! Very nice idea.

Ron, I am so glad you pointed out that you don't mind negative comments. I was soooooo biting my tongue during the challenge on this photo, but now I can let loose:

The reason is would have loved to comment at all, is because of the potential I saw in a photo that had gone wrong.

There are times where a soft focus effect works well, and this could be one of those times. However, the WAY you did it - didn't work. Perhaps a proper soft focus filter would have helped for that. At the very least, I think you should have left the trees soft, but brought some sharpness back into gazebo.

It just doesn't look right, the purple fringing around the sky is very distracting, and the rest of it just looks somewhat off focus rather than soft.

It is not the most exciting scene out (but I still think it is pretty) and the lighting is dreadfully dull. Very early morning or late afternoon light would have made that part more interesting.

How about adding a point of interest to look at - perhaps a large windchime of some natural type design that would fit into the scene - strategically placing it so it catches the sun with a little sparkle.
(oh and make a fairy flutter around while you're at it *g*).
I think you found a very pretty spot and you were trying to do the right thing with it. I hope you can go back to that same place and try again.

I agree with Marjo, but perhaps there isn't enough emphasis on the butterflies.
If you were to blur the background (and perhaps even the foreground) a little more, you might get the best of both worlds.
