April; Easter Bunny In Trainingby magicshutterComment: Either your white balance is off, or you need to get this little punkin some oxygen :)
ok I'm being a little sarcastic. but the whole pic has a blue cast to it, which suggests your white balance might be off a little. I rarely trust the camera to do it automatically. After the fact you can fix this by using you r colour balance to lessen the cyans a little.
cute shot tho. love the catchlights in her eyes.

Novemberby amsmythComment: now THIS, I like (not too many i like in this challenge so far). I think you pushed the saturation a bit too far. It looks great on the leaves, but makes your shadows really noisy on the left. a little selective desat or burning on the hills would clean that up nicely.
very well done.

Septemberby MAKComment: if you're going to do a lot of burning, use your colour balance or a de-saturation tool when you're done to lose the blue cast. Burning on an adjustment layer is the easiest way to control it.
Aside from that, very nice pic. I'm sure a few will mention the slanter horizon, but i don't mind it...together with the posts it leads your eye nicely to the H2O.
good luck,

Septemberby davidbedardComment: not sure i'd have chosen the high-key approach here, but then again, it's not my photo :). granted, you'd lose some detail on the fisherman, but you'd get some back in the skyline, and add some needed contrast in the beautiful sky to really make him the focus of your pic. Using curves or levels would let you darken the darks without messing too much with the lights...
I'm all for trying new things and getting away from traditional technically oriented shots, but this one to me needs more contrast.
The graduated border does nothing for me, but is irrelevant to the shot so doesn't affect the score.
Good luck

Girl with Scooterby zeuszenComment: yes yes yes. love it. i won't bore you with any technical opinions, because those are pretty much irrelevant in this shot. here are the things i like:
1. the diagonal pointing to her feet. As if she couldn't draw your eye enough as it was, the diagonal makes you take her in. fabulous.
2. the 'glow'. can't tell if you dodged it in, or if it was just there from the natural lighting. she seems to have a halo atound her, and just behind her on the wall is a diffuse glow that lights her up perfectly. to me lighting is the most important aspect of a photo, and this subtlety is the thing i can't miss about it. It looks like you've maybe burned the wall in front of her (again, maybe natural and very fortunate). this holds her captive for an instant...like a wall in front of her or something. The shadow that's making her stand there for us to get that extra fraction of a second with her. parfait.
3. The texture of the road, combined with the faint yellow line on the road behind her, gives the impression of movement even though she's clearly standing still. it leaves an odd sense of dissonance, which both frustrates and captivates. I know she's not going anywhere, but i'm equally confident that i couldn't stop this little punkin even if i wanted to.
4. Her face. mischeivous. and her backpack. and the death grip she has on the gooseneck of the scooter. so good. soooo good.
well done Zeus. this goes into P's favourites right now. love it love it love it.

Eyes by librodoComment: he he. Sampu :)
another trademark masterpiece. there is no disguising a "Librodo". the lighting is impeccable (natural I assume, given the window-shaped catch light in her eyes).
the crop is just enough to emphasize the feature; the title wasn't necessary.
i love it love it love it.

Jambo by ellamayComment: the lighting is a little flat, so a bit of push in the contrast post-processing could compensate. very well executed; nice crop, nice choice of shallow depth. good attention to detail. |

stalking leopardby whiteroomComment: wish we all had the opportunity to shoot such a beast outside of a zoo...unfortunately, this may be overlooked in comparison to the photos of the captive ones. nice clarity and sharpness. a little creative dodging and a slightly tighter crop to get rid of the unneccesary space on the right and this moves up about .5-1 point in the votes i would guess. very nice. wish i was there. |

Golden Lightby JPRComment: I'd like to see you dodge her face a little, so it's as well exposed as her little punkin's face. Amazing job given the lighting conditions that you must have had to work with. Back to add: remind me to ask you what shutter speed you used, because i'm guessing it was pretty slow, making this way more impressive. bump up in score. |
