To The Beachby edisComment: i love the concept, and the setup is nice. would have liked to see this a stop or two darker to save some of the detail in the highlights and deepen the colour in the sky. Slighter larger aperature would add a little depth and sharpness to it. I like what you've done with the post processing; it as an interesting ethereal glow to it. |

A Diamond Is Foreverby NitinComment: gems are notoriusly hard to photograph because you tend to get harsh highlights and reflections. you've done a good job of minimizing these. A little fill light low on the left would help fill in the shadows. The focus is sharp, and the detail is nice. There seem to be a number of lines, none of which really lead me anywhere in an obvious way. Nice submission. |

Our Fathersby idnicComment: technically a nice photo. sharp detail and rich colours. Conceptually it doesn't grab me too hard, but i'm sure would appeal to Americans more because of the subject. I certainly see the figurative leading lines, not so sure about the literal ones. I think the idea of the challenge was more the literal, but I can accept both :)
great props as well. |

On the lakeby BigRComment: a few random thoughts - just opinions of course.
nice idea. i like where you've placed the horizon, but the image looks a little unbalanced because the horizon is a little off level. it looks like you oriented the image to keep the left edge of the pier vertical, but i think the horizon is more important. I think the pier is allowed to be angled to offer the perspective, but when the horizon is off, it's just...well...off. Maybe a little tighter crop to let the pier flow off the left edge of the page would balance it a bit better.
nice technical aspects of the photo; sharp detail, lots of depth of field, and fabulous colour. |

SCUBAby sherComment: this is another one you should make a print. very cool. i wonder how i miss all of these...oh yeah...it's cuz i don't look at challenges very often.
the toning is fabulous...did you do that after the fact or was the B/G actually that awesome blue? |

essence reduxby AleciaComment: very nice. the pink:red/white interaction is way better in this version. And of course i love the muted skin tones. A worthy do-over.

IC3D2337.jpgby jmooreComment: how great is this? it's sometimes difficult to break free of the more traditional bebe shots...this one certainly does that with the capture of those curious eyes and slightly nefarious grin :)
well done. (love the one with the square crop as well)

Floating by StagoleeComment: man it warms me up just looking at this. the rich tones are perfect and serene. there are the inevitable compression artifacts around the hood feathers, but I'm betting this will be a phenomenal print at full resolution. well done, Tim. |
