unique image. the reflection inthe glasses doesn't work for me - it's too bright against the shadowed face (maybe it was intentional - if so, that wouldn't have been my choice). I like the high contrast and the blown out part where the light hits...it works well with the negative space on the right.

need a bit more contrast i think. a darker backdrop, or just a little tweak in photoshop would do it. her neck washes out in the grain.

the pose looks unnatural, mostly the leg. beautiful subject, great use of ambient light. I lose her head a bit against the darker part of the background...a little higher angle might have helped this.. good shot.

I really like it, with two exceptions: 1) It looks like you dodged all around the child, giving an odd aura/halo-looking glow (just use a smaller dodge-tool and be a bit more careful, unless that's what you were going for; 2) I'd have tried to shoot it without the line running through her head (the line on the pavement). a solid mat would have been cleaner. I'm being picky - I really like this. 7

I assume it's an edit...maybe not. good enough to fool most if it is. Other than that the pic doesn't do much for me. A fill flash would help some of the shadows (the shadows don't add much to the composition if they were intentional), and I might incread the depth to blur the background a bit.

There's a lot that I love about this. The pose is fantastic; unique in this challenge for sure. The desaturation works well, and really fits nicely with the border (don't listen to all the jokers who will tell you they don't like your border - it's great). Can just see enough of her (your?) face to get an expression, which is very peaceful.
I struggle with the editing. the shadow is unnatural, and the cutout is a little choppy in parts (which is natural for cutouts - they're very difficult to pull off). After 40 votes or so, this is my favourite.

a good twist on an old idea. like the setup, but I'm not a big fan of the cluttered backdrop. Either a solid colour, or get enough depth of focus to blur it so it's not so distracting. I KNOW people are going to ask about the scar... great title too.

looks really grainy. If that was the intent, I think it's a bad choice, since it would seem you'd want to enhance the definition for this type of shot. If not, you either need better lighting, or find a better way to compress your photos to meet submission criteria.
