Greetings from Critique Club:

This was a fun image to look at. It made me think of what a two headed cat would be like in an obscure science fiction novel. The idea was really awesome in my opinion.

The focus seems a bit off, especially on the mirror side which is hard enough to get in focus anyway. I think maybe you might have set the autofocus on the mirror side or right in the middle and then moved the camera. It also appears like you used flash, which made the white parts pretty bright.

The other main problem is that the background is pretty distracting, especially that it isn't symmetrical and takes away from the symmetry of the entire image which was almost dead on. This of course would be easy to change with spot editing and its a shame you can't do it for the challenges. I'd go back and do it for my own personal portfolio if I were you, maybe just cut out the background and make it all pure black.

Oh, the whiskers are a great touch and I laughed out loud reading your photographer's comments picturing you trying to get the cat to stay on the mirror.

Keep shootin'

Greetings from the Critique Club:
This photo has a very interesting composition. I'm sure that the white border part on the side bothered a lot of viewers but I understand that you couldn't crop it out without also cropping the purple butterfly on the right as well. In some way I think it would have been better if you had included a bit more of it to make the composition a little more balanced. The colors are excellent. The focus looks a slight bit blurry but I have the feeling that was the subject itself and not your photography technique. I also see this as a plate, which doesn't really matter, but it's confusing me now that I know it's a coffee/tea cup, but whatever it is the artwork on it is really all you have to work with, therefore if people don't like it they aren't going to like the photo, which may be the biggest problem. Technically, there's not much wrong with it. The top and bottom seem a bit dark and there appears to be some dust and scratches, but again, I'm not sure if that is your lighting or the actual painting of the item. With a indoor macro challenge I think a large part of it is the subject that you choose. I thought this was a fine subject that inticed my mind into a nice warm spring that I'm more than ready for. Keep up the good work!

not a bad shot, but could use some work in terms of lighting / color balance. It also seems a bot blurry. You might have had the camera to close for it to focus well. It is always better to use a tripod if you can. The subject itself is good and the angle is fine. It's just the lighting and focus that are off. 4
