Hi Harvey! I saw that you'd posted to the Photo a Week thread & clicked to see one of your fine bird shots. Of course I was not disappointed! And thank you for adding those notes, too. I have been trying this summer to get a pretty good shot of each kind of bird that visits the feeder in my backyard. I found out how quick to take flight a bird is, & how difficult it is to get a good shot. Lots of patience & waiting. I wanted to tell you that I appreciate the difficulty & I do appreciate the work you do. You do it well.

It's hard to know how to respond to this. Clearly it's art, the art is pretty straightforward to respond to. But the photograph seems documentary in nature, like for a catalog of the show. It could be a photo of a photorealistic painting, or of a 3-dimensional piece. I don't know how to admire it as a photo, not sure if I'm supposed to admire the original art-as-subject. The technicals are all so excellent that I feel slightly bullied by this, Maybe that's why I voted a10. I really don't know.

Nicely done. It seems to glow with its own mysterious light, as a water lily should. At first I didn't like then little white dots, but then I did.

I like this. The slight distortion to the floor (ice) is lovely. All the people frozen in momentary place, unique but unknown, seem fraught with an unknowable significance.
