windmillsby Jules1xComment: Nice. Sharp foreground, blurred BG. Understated color (to my eye). |

Street Photography Without Peopleby instepsComment: I enjoyed your essay.
When I think of street photography, I imagine public spaces. Without people, I think urban landscape. There's something in what you say that leads me to wonder if you avoid people in your street photography because you do not want to photograph strangers & risk a possible confrontation.
I like the phrase "it's about how something looks photographed." I can understand that kind of curiosity. For me, street photography, like most photography, is the art of taking something out of context in a way that lets it tell its own story in a way that is unique to photographs.

Alterationsby boguloComment: WOW! I love what you did with this. The color & curving lines & shapes are seductive. Interesting that the cloud shadows don't show up as much in fullsize as they do in thumbnail. The cloud shadows do a lot to make this interesting, but in a subtle way. I like it. |

Reaching nestsby UrhoComment: I like the way the clouds are tangled in the trees. The light is excellent, the composition & color very eye-catching. Wish I'd seen this on the front page! |

You Are Hereby ubiqueComment: I enjoyed reading it again. I like illustrated words. I spent the last hour writing a long thing in reaction to it & then deleted it, which was fun. Thanks! |

2by sfaliceComment: A clean little town, as presented here. Good job. The crisp white borders are a good choice. Once upon a time, I tried to capture the essence of the town I lived in, & only got a bunch of shots that could be anywhere. So for me, this is a difficult thing to do, & I appreciate the apparent ease with which you found one shot after another. Of course you have had lots of practice in SF & you make that look easy, too. You have a good eye for architecture. The transition between town shots & countryside shots was too abrupt for me but maybe that's because these shots tell such a clear story. About the missing people--I would be very interested in some thoughts from you about why you leave them out. |

Nine Blocksby PaulComment: The group of 9 makes a nice cover, or introduction, but each one by itself is fascinating. Love the square crop. Love the way you catch people looking outside the frame at something that caught their interest or their eye. My favorite is the clear crisp candy colors of the one in color--I like the color in contrast to the BW, & I like the way you framed it. |
