No more gas?by lavalComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Congratulations on your first challenge entry! I'm sorry it did not score better for you.
I personally liked this rather a lot. The trail lights of the cars are excellent. I liked the composition a lot too. In fact, I gave it a 7 as it appealed to me.
However, I can see why it did not break the 5 score. I suspect for many of the voters they felt this did not truly meet the challenge. I can see why that maybe so. Even though I scored it high, I think I do not immediately think Cold when I see it..

Ice Cube Kissingby kwgiltnerComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
First of all, let me welcome you to DPC. I know that you registered a while ago, but it seems you have only just started submitting to the challenges.
I am sorry that this did not score higher for you as I believe it is a decent shot. Even though for me it does meet the challenge, I am thinking the only reason it could have scored below 5 is because the majority of voters did not feel it fully met the challenge topic.
I wonder if you had focused more on the fingers and the ice cube itself if you may have scored a bit higher? To my mind it is a decent shot and definitely did not deserve a 4.8. I gave it a 6.

Winter Wonderland by DrakeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
First off, congratulations on the ribbon. Very happy to see that your brief moment with the DQ was reversed.
Very glad to read in your notes that you did not slip trying to get this image. I know that feel all too well here!
I think the first thing that struck me about this image was the lovely wintery light. For an image that so clearly portrays cold, it gave a warmth to it that was appreciated. I notice a lot of people used blue to enhance the feeling of cold in their images.
It's difficult to offer too much by way of critique, as it is evident both from your score and placement that this was a well received image that clearly met the challenge. I'm not sure I would have done anything differently.

Ice Cold Waterby gotluckyComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Congratulations on the top 20 result.
How to critique this image and add any value? Well, a little challenging from my side as I think it is rathe a well done image.
You got just the right amount of blur in the water which is good. The detail in the ice is excellent. There are no blown out highlights at all. The color treatment in post processing enhances the cold feeling.
Perhaps the only thing that may have persuaded me to score it higher than I did (I gave you a 7 by the way), would have been a slight change in composition. I perhaps would have liked it to be a wider angle with a little bit more context. However, that is only a small personal taste thing.
Again, well done on a good score and placement in this challenge.
