Froggyby KelliComment: I must be weird, everyone else likes the greens, I am not a fan. Too much competition from that background green. For me, it just doesn't seem to gel. I've heard that men see green different than women, maybe that is it. :)
Beyond that though, everything else is terrific. The way you framed the frog is nice. I also like the textures going on here. Exposure is great. It is a terrific shot though. Your eye goes aroudn the whole frame smoothly. Nice job on the placement and a well deserved score! |

in my time of flyingby posthumousComment: I actually like how you shot this underexposed. Maybe even a half a stop more underexposer to really bring out those textured clouds. Very simple composition but works. I like how the birds are flying into the frame. Wonderful colors. The simple line the birds make are great. I had this one rated much higher than your final. I think the problem with this picture it takes a few minutes to appreciate, it is pretty easy to overlook on a quick glance. |

Enter Sandmanby kashiComment: I simply love this picture. Wonderful exposure. Head crop works here. Beautiful expression on the child. Lots of little details make it a nice image, hair eye lashes, the rosy cheecks with the red blanket(?). Great lighting. A well composed shot that captures the innocence of children. The lower score was probably just to theme. While I get the relation, I think it relies to much on the title. |

stag.jpgby snafflesComment: At of the three captures you posted, including the "Corn" entry, I like this one best. The row of heads really adds to the appeal, with the single one out making an exclamation. I might have preferred this kneeling down just a bit to get that one elk's (is it elk or deer?) nose fully into the picture. By doing so you would also probably get rid to the tree line (a good thing, I think). This is a just a small quibble for an excellent photograph. All it needs is just a bit of contrast and maybe a little warmth added. I think the color balance is "just a tad" off, going towards blue. Still this is one of those million dollar shots, that I think anyone would enjoy in their collection. Wonderful shot. |

The Oyster Manby noranekoComment: Great capture. The addition of the hose in the foreground is a nice addition. I really enjoy the different textures going on here. The oysters, the grass, and the outfit all lead to a wonderful frame. I also like how the background seems a little desaturated compared to the foreground colors. The hose, while I like the line it creates seems to have an uneven exposure along it's length. Not sure if it was intentional. I also like the deepening of the sky color, though it looks like some of it was missed around the head, creating a slight halo. Compositionally is is very good, even though it is a non-standard crop size. This is one of the better great real-life working images I have seen in a while!
EDIT: This is a standard crop size, hmmm, must be that it is so veritical oriented. Message edited by author 2007-02-01 23:38:24. |

Windmillsby MelethiaComment: Wonderful photo, when I first saw it I first thought Germany and I saw I was correct. I saw so many of those windmills over there.
I like the rolling hills in this one. Kind of a miniaturized world with the curve. It is a pretty cool perspective. I like the square crop here because it does enhance that "round" feeling to the photograph. The three tones are working well together here, the blue, the green and the red. A very nice color combination. Sharpness is good. Clouds are marvelous. Good control of exposure. Terrific lines with both the shadows, hill lines, and roof lines.
The only negative is the brush in the front. I like those whites peeking out, just wish I could see more of them. I realize not much you can do with them. Though I do prefer to leave them in rather than cropping them out, a good choice.
A great photo, colors are wonderful. Stunning. |

Hanging by a limbby shanemcoffeeComment: The idea here is good. The lighting is nice. Not sure if I like how the composition is centered. I think more of a traditiona 4x6 or even 5x7 format would have helped (I almost didn't notice the snake at first). Background is nice. You'll probably get hit a bit from the noise police. I think a tighter crop would have made this a real winner. Above average rating from me. |

Backstageby librodoComment: I like the idea of this phto. Great captured moment. The depth is nice too. One main negative is the head chopping in the background people. It kind of takes away from the moment. The rest is great. Terrific colors, nice sharpness, well composed (except those background heads). Above average rating from me. |

Fillyby xXxscarletxXxComment: This is my favorite photo of the challenge. A coupel of reason here, first it is a great use of fill the frame. The lighting in the picture is terrific. The overal composition is superb, lots on lines, lots of well placed items. I like the color pallete on this one. Frankly this is probably the best use of "Expert Editing" that I have seen, one that isnt' over the top. Lovely image. Highly rated. |
