~ Fire and Ice ~ Sun and Moon ~by HaneckComment: I just went through the thumbnails and your photo got my attention. Now, that I'm looking at the large version, it REALLY has my attention! If this isn't the Blue Ribbon winning photo, I'll eat that flutterby! No doubt about it: 10! |

There's Something Fishy Hereby artvetComment: Originally posted by BHuseman: How does this relate to your weekend? I see shoehorn, and DNMC=1
edit,
This is one where I still struggle with raising my vote. Did you go snorkeling? Maybe. How can I tell though? What this looks like to me is a man snorkeling in his studio. the white background makes this shot look staged and therefore I can't say you went snorkeling. It looks like you pur your gear on, and took a studio photo.
Overall this is very creative. I am curious about the fish in the mask and how it was done. the highkey works with the image, it just doesn't convey your weekend to me. If I didn't feel this was a DNMC I would hve voted it an 8 easily. I like it.
However, I am still having a problem coming to grips with how it meets the challenge. If I loosely say well the title doesn't matter he went snorkeling, then it fits. But I think in this challenge and for this image the title matters. I am raising my original DNMC=1 to 5. I would have gone higher if I didn't think the title lets this image down, if only in the context of this challenge. Had this been a free study the title would have fit perfectly. But not in this challenge, in my opinion. And I have to vote based on my opinion. |
Well put and probably a feeling that most of us have. It just goes to prove that a great photo, no matter what the challenge, will almost certainly beat out a creative, but of lesser quality photo that totally meets the challenge and/or description of the challenge. It's a puzzling fact to me and I'm glad you said it. |
