Wow, I am so done with babies! but I don't expect others to have my views. Your photo is socially touching and the composition is nice. It's downfall to me is the lighting. It looks like a flash was used (which I've never really found useful) or a bright spotlight. I think some softer lighting and longer exposure time might have alleviated that. But, it's always hard to guess how to really help (but that is a personal taste situation too because you may love it how it is and that is totally ok with me) until we know the camera settings and/or photo editing process. I think the conversion to black and white was a good choice too.

What a cute idea! Seems a little grainy to me. I've found lower ISO and slightly longer exposure helps with that. It may also just be my monitor!
