Thanks for sharing your inspiration as well as your doubts, but really this is a superior photo. Congratulations on the ribbon. My only suggestion (pardon the nitpicking) would be to have the woman's hand and arm look more obviously female. Maybe a bare arm, or polished fingernails -- not to the point of cliche, but something so the his/her aspect is more visually apparent.

A bit over the top, but striking. I prefer the subtler sky in your alternate version, but I like the sea in the version you submitted -- not so much the blue color, but the whitecaps really pop. The "lady" in the photo is too small to see at this size. I wonder if a closer crop would have helped emphasize her without losing the interesting details of the environment?
