he sleeps wellby sherComment: Beautiful triptych. Each photo stands on its own, yet they work well together. Connected thematically and visually, yet with enough variety to warrant their inclusion. A 10 from me and one of my top two favorites in the challenge. Good luck! |

Sunrise Waves by hotpastaComment: On first round, I give this best in show! The b&w has depth and adds to the mood (it seems like so many times it is used in an attempt to make art out of a bad photo). A strong 10 from me. Good luck!
Edit: Yup, best in show, with "he sleeps well" a close second. I'm sure you'll both do well. |

Hells Kitchenby MAKComment: Originally posted by MAK: ... the fact that this shot received 5 X 1s to me, does not show a simple dislike of the cartoon editing but more of an attempt to lower the end result thus known as TROLLING.
A vote of 1 should be issued to a shot that is 160x160 pixels totally void of any connection to the challenge without any focus whatsoever. ... etc. |
MAK, I hope there aren't people who intentionally vote low when they recognize a style ("trolling")... and I certainly hope there aren't five! I think it's more likely that people saw something they hated, or thought they should hate: the presence of food, the presence of humor, the presence of a style of post-processing they don't like... who knows?
I agree with you completely about the kind of photo that deserves a 1, by the way. It looks like a lot of good photographers have to suffer idiot voters. C'est la vie dp, apparently!

cleaver by alreadythereComment: Not bad for a first entry. Keep trying! Just kidding, of course. Congratulations on your blue ribbon. |

Dos Equisby Art RoflmaoComment: Congrats on making the top 20. I was one of your three "10s" this round. It's a beautiful photo. |

Carnivoreby GeocideComment: Although I'm sort of tired of this look for most photos, here it makes perfect sense. This evokes the same heavily processed look of current grisly films and their posters -- very sinister. Well done. |

Fork Off.by shamerComment: I don't automatically like "jokey" photos, but this is so well done! Simple arrangement of objects, effective use of depth of field. The b&w works, too. This really made me laugh -- an entirely appropriate response to "art". A high vote from me. |

The bridge by ArnaRosComment: Two months later and still getting comments! Congratulations on your ribbon and on your special photograph.
Not my business, but I don't think Jmnuggy meant to accuse anyone of cheating, he was just asking the question. Thanks (Amason) for your explanation.
I love all the comments in Icelandic! (Ãslenska) :-)

"Cool!!..Bumped up to 6.0977..and a new comment!!..I wonder what it says" (DOUBLE MANIA)by nutzitoComment: Great photo. Glad you made the top twenty. For some reason I found myself thinking about this photo last night. The preparation that went into it is fascinating (I've now saved this and the two set-up shots to my favorites).
I generally evaluate photos and not the captions, but I wonder if a different caption might have improved your ranking. It's funny in an "insider joke" kind of way, but as a newcomer I found the caption confusing (and still do, in a way). Just my two cents on that. Cheers, and keep up the good work! |

ritualby whiteroomComment: Great candid, and I really like the light. Thanks for your paragraph on sadhus, too -- very interesting.
If I can rant a bit (nothing against you): Perhaps it's just that none of the "propriety police" have seen this yet, but I wonder if the reason this photo hasn't been removed (after all, it does violate the TOS) is because people see him as a "native" and therefore full nudity is deemed acceptable. Weird. |
