You got killed by the number of similarly themed entries, and your photo lacks that count-the-pores sharpness that is de rigeur for dpc. Personally I don't like your choice of frame, but the photo itself is very appealing. The brutal crop, somewhat awkward stance, "stiff neck", and partially-seen mouth all add interest for me. I also very much like the color palette.

Thanks for sharing the frame and link, I'll have to try it out. The big black frame is strong, maybe too strong for the soft pastel images? Love the colorful photo(s), though.
