Great shot. Like the dof, like the BW. Overall it is a little busy and could benefit from some additional negative space either outside or between bamboo shoots. At the same time it has a calm, ethereal quality that meets the challenge well. Good job, 6.

Great photo. I really like the colors (or lack of colors) and it portrays the sense of that early morning calm perfectly. The copmosition is great, though I do wish the top and right of the foremost tree were not cropped off. 7.

This is going to do well, I'm sure. I'm giving it a 5. To me, even though it is smoke, it is very chaotic. I think the composition would have worked better by cropping in such a way that there was some negative (black) space on one side or the other. A nice idea overall, suprised there weren't more of these type of entries. Good job.

I really hope this shot ribbons. Perfectly meets the stated challenge description. The texture on the ground is excellent. The fall of the light is perfect. The background through the gate really gives it a feeling of the vast unknown. Composition is excellent. A very unique submission amidst the stacked rocks and plant shots. Just an all around great shot, grats.

Very cool, what did you rub on yourself? Looks like it could be an ad for a horror movie. Personally I like the crop because the overwhelming amount of black ads to the freakiness. You should post another one with your eyes completely blacked out ;)

This will probably ribbon but honestly the PP looks so contrived and has been done so many times now... Still, a nice shot. Composition could be a little more interesting, arrangement of slices notwithstanding. 6.

Absolutely excellent. So sick of seeing bug shots and then this one comes along that not only meets the challenge to the letter but has excellent lighting, perfect composition, perfect focus. Damn, the list goes on. This should be THE STANDARD for bug shots.
