Simple and extraordinary - love the juxtaposition of shapes and textures.

I take the point of your concern, but must say I don't find your presentation to be at all exploitative. I'm not sure what "discomfort" you see in him here, as he appears to me by his stance, gesture and expression to be content.

Another fantastic portrait - there's a whole world in his eyes. Centered subject works well here.

What a fantastic perspective - I particularly like that he's the only one facing the camera. There's such a playful, good-natured look to his expression.

Great background with all those horizontal lines and his level expression roots me to this shot - very absorbing portrait.

There was something in the back of my brain that referenced that b&w shot from the August blur thread - I thought of it, but didn't think it was exactly the same one. Nice to see this was you - love the way these branches meander all around the frame - with the brilliant greens, the shot has quite a lot energy. Remarkable how you can get a completely different feel from the same shot depending on whether you present it in color or b&w.

"The floor was sufficiently blue" would have made for a good title. :) The artist that this work reminds me of is on the tip of my tongue and I just can't get to it - I think this is brilliantly done. A bit fauvist, too, maybe... Love those big blocks of rich color. That you took an ordinary photograph (some would use the slur "snapshot") and thought to turn it into this fantastic study of color and form is stunning. Would expect to see something just like this hanging on a wall at MOMA.

Count me as one who really liked it. :) Fantastical, beautifully avant-garde. Looks like something from the Brothers Quay.

Very pretty - I was just listening to that Shel Silverstein song "Unicorn" just the other day.

"A long time ago, when the Earth was green
There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen
They'd run around free while the Earth was being born
And the loveliest of all was the unicorn

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn

The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain
And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain"
He says, "Hey Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo,
and take some of those

Green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget My unicorns

Old Noah was there to answer the call
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall
He marched the animals two by two
And he called out as they came through
Hey Lord,
I've got green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn
I just can't find no unicorns"

And Noah looked out through the driving rain
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling
Oh, them silly unicorns

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Noah cried, "Close the door because the rain is falling
And we just can't wait for no unicorns"

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide
The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away
That's why you never see unicorns to this very day

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
You're never gonna see no unicorns"
