What I find interesting about this is how much we get from context and knowing what things look like. So there's no question of the subjects, but the blur lets us explore the textures and shapes without focusing so much on the specifics.

This almost exactly nails how I feel about my 2 years in grad school in Seattle. It was 1991-1993. I lived in Washington, DC before that period and I returned and have lived here ever since. Grad school was a fantastic experience, and my soul still feels at home in Seattle, but the whole thing feels a bit like an out of focus dream.
