Night Time Strollby jaysonmcComment: Ah, forget the voters. This is a great study in contrasts, and it captures how the Eye just kind of looms over everything. You have a nice riverside scene, but there's this gigantic metal wheel hanging above you. I get the same feeling about the Washington Monument here. I also like the contrast between brightly lit, manufactured round shape of the Eye and the dark, clearly organic, random linear shapes of the trees. |

Skip Togetherby jaysonmcComment: I missed this originally. I like it, but I REALLY like the outtake crop because it makes the interesting stuff bigger. You discovered the solution to a blah sky - crop out most of it. :) The only post-processing skill I'd recommend is cloning. One tiny click and that sensor dust in the sky would disappear. Maybe they're birds, but they look like dust specks. Message edited by author 2007-09-05 23:25:54. |

Random Unravelby noranekoComment: Hey, you got your 6! I predicted 6.1, so I wasn't too far off. :) That's three in a row, with at least another one coming. |

Whiskersby JuliBocComment: Julianne, I think the oversharpening comments come from the combination of the lack of detail and the sharp whiskers. I'm guessing people are looking for detail like in this shot:
I think that it's very hard to crop that much out of a frame and still keep details, esp. with a point and shoot that probably doesn't have a world-beating lens. This is one place where more megapixels helps, and where any lack of razor sharpness in the lens comes through. The full-size shot seems to have much more detail than the entry.
As far as filling the frame, face on apparently satisfies more people, esp. if it's black in the small spaces the tiger's face doesn't fill. See the #5 place shot, for example (although I don't think it's that much sharper than yours):
