It's pretty obvious that's a piece of paper, not an eye. Also, the highlights on the can are blown out. And, ultimately, the picture isn't that interesting to me. The original was great for its challenge, but in what's essentially a free study, it's only okay to me.

Good angle, but the hands' positions look forced. In ClubJuggle's shot, it looks like several people reaching to touch the name of someone they all loved.

Also, the hands are a bit blown out.

Michelle, I voted this a 5. I actually like the idea, but something about the specifics didn't grab me much. Maybe a deeper DOF to show the beach? I think I was also distracted by the fuzzy things in the background. If you want, I think it'd be fun to try this concept a few different ways and put 'em in your portfolio. :) On the other hand, your commenters loved it!
