Charlieby KelliComment: Wow, I didn't realize they had big eyes up front like that. Nice macro! |

Godiva Darkby MelethiaComment: Oh, another Deb special: taking the mundane and somehow, once again, pulling out art. I chuckled to read most people walked behind you when they saw your camera. I've had the same problem. I want to yell "NO! I WANT you in the frame. Just pretend I'm not here!" The randomness of it is part of the fun, to see what comes along.
Anyway, back to your shot, I love how your title reflects not only the product in the window but also the generally dark scene. |

My yellow houseby silverfoxxComment: Originally posted by posthumous: Incredible that you got a 6.57 for this photo. You are creating an audience for yourself, the way all great artists do. |
Don's so on target I had to quote it. Congrats on finding your audience - just look at your score from commenters! :) |

Silent Againby TruegshtComment: I like the subjects and arrangement, but the muted colors don't grab me. Going all the way to monochrome might have worked better. Given the "old-time" feel, maybe sepia or brown would have worked better. |

Flower on my Deckby bcobleComment: If this is what you wanted to create, then I can't comment. But assuming you'd like feedback on why it scored as low as it did, here's what I think.
First, still life means arranged objects (or so I understand), with careful thought to how each element is placed and lit. So the DNMC crowd probably hammered this pretty hard.
Second, I think people's eyes are drawn to bright things, like your background, but that ends up distracting viewers from the subject.
Finally, the flower's too far to the right, and too low contrast, to hold my interest.
The upshot is to keep trying other flower shots, but not in a still life challenge. :) |

Catching the Last Lightby BrianRComment: I like the flower and the blue base. The background's distracting, though, and I don't see the blue color working well with the rich red/purple of the curtain. Did you try the same subject against a solid curtain? |

Full Clockby kashiComment: A very sharp, nice dandelion shot. I'm guessing people just hammered it for DNMC, since I think still life usually means arranged objects, not something you find outside. |

Berries & Wineby KelliComment: Man, no comments just sucks, esp. with that score. You have my sympathy.
I don't understand the score. I think the tilt, colors, and composition are all interesting. But I can guess at some of the things that people dinged you for: blur on the glasses' base and the blown highlights on the berries. But still, this would've been a 6 from me had I voted. |
