Hi-Fiveby clickodakComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
hey Marcel! I don't mind the image or your concept, but sadly it misses the mark in terms of interpretation of what the challenge called for. The composition is ok with the arms coming in from the sides and making a centred high-5, and I can see you kept things simple and didn't try to do too much with the concept. Some voters might have disliked the shadow cast by the hands; if possible, try to position models about 3ft away from your backdrop.
Keep up the good work!

The Weathered Speed Limitby dpeden182Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Long exposure is a personal favourite of mine, though I don't use it often. And I am a huge fan of photogs who put thought and planning into their shot, so you've already scored twice with me in a big way :-)
Now, I would not have thought this an easy challenge at all, which is partly why I sat it out! Looking at the images that did well here, you can see that they tended to take very recognizable signs and just cut out half of the word. Some left a certain amount of guessing; others, like those featuring a stop sign whose shape and colour are recognizable the world over, had to say very little to convey their message.
I feel that the main problem here is that the sign is too dominant an image, and as you want us to try and guess what the speed limit is, it might have been better to crop off the left side of the sign so it would read 'EED MIT 0' underneath it. Try it and see if it works for you.
Please keep shooting and entering, and feel free to PM me with any questions

Good Yearby jayzundelComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hmmm this image is a very good try at the challenge, it is a truncated sign, and I don't mind the angle as I feel it adds interest. I think the main problem is twofold: a lack of colour, this could have used a hit of saturation to make the image pop a little more. Second, lack of a dominant element here; no one aspect stands head and shoulders above the rest demanding your attention. The winged foot is also somewhat centred, maybe a closer crop in to it would have helped draw more attention to it.
Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Old restaurant signby gipper11Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hmmm close but no cigar this time, I'm afraid. I like the dynamic angled comp, good focus, and punchy colours but feel that, simply put...there are just too many signs, in several different colours, all saying different things, so I think this may have led to some confusion on the voters' part, and that means lower votes as this site tends to be very literal.
Hope this helps

Wonder if the owl can read...by DrakeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I find the colours a little washy here, and the snow a little bleached out. Some more contrast would have helped give depth to the shot. I think a closer crop so that you were eliminating the 'ing' in the No Trespassing sign would have helped the composition a bit esp as the hole is very centred here. After all, comments indicate that people can't see the 'Private Property' part of the sign, so you can't assume that people *know* what the rest of the sign says.
Hope this helps
