almost a little too much tilt, and would like to see a slightly more decrepit house for a witch, but decent enough entry.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: Lovely shot of an intriguing piece of architecture, and the pp is subtle enough to see but not overwhelm the photo; it accentuates your subject nicely. Nice job.

Artistic: Very dramatic POV and the leading lines angling up to the left, but the arches angling off to the right add to the effect. The crisp depth of field leads to a sense of being there.

Technical: The composition is very appealing with the leading lines and use of thirds. Presumably the lighting is a mix of natural and interior, in which case b/w is a good choice as colours can look off with more than one light source. The light is a teeny bit close to centred, but I have to have something to pick apart! :-)

Overall: Great work, I can see by your camera gear that you know how to make the most of what you have. Wonderful subject and treatment of such, though I agree with the commenter who would like to see the windows in colour.

Feel free to PM me.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: I gave this shot an 8 in voting, and I don't give them freely. Good job.

Artistic: Nice leading lines and use of thirds, and glad that there isn't anything dead centre. I like the wide angle and low POV...sitting or kneeling on the sand, am I right?

Technical: Good idea to have the horizon straight or you may have drawn some complaints about a tilted horizon. I know it's basically a landscape shot but I think the addition of an extra element to just left of the mid-centre would have ust given it a little extra. Someone walking away, or a dog running towards the shore. Just a thought. Might have been a little bit better with the horizon just a titch lower as it splits the photo almost perfectly in half. At least at that point, it does :-)

Overall: A very pleasing landscape, good work. Keep shooting!

Peaceful Chaos

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: Ahhh! I can feel the very chaotic nature of that area from here! So much signage, cars, everything... :-)

Artistic: A very nice capture of a very busy scene. With so many signs etc competing for the eye all the time, I can't help but wonder why there isn't a huge pileup at every corner. But as you said in your title, it's peaceful chaos. The b/w works well and helps to capture the shapes and forms. In colour it would probably be too overwhelming.

Technical: Looks very crisp and not noisy at all, as can be Nikon's bugaboo. You did a good job of exposing for the scene, esp with a high ISO, and the light is just enough to illuminate the scene in all its madness without too much glare or punchy dark areas. Composition is a little drab, shot from lower down or higher up may have given you a more interesting angle. (Just don't get killed, is all)

Overall: A good shot of what is clearly par for the course for you in terms of your daily travel. Keep up the good work and keep shooting!

Feel free to PM me,

Susan

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First Impression: Very good use of the T/S effect, and I am fond of extreme POVs like this.

Artistic: Great place to shoot for this challenge, as you already have a bit of a 3/4 overhead perspective to help you out. That, and the bright colours of the clothing against the ice, add interest and depth and movement to the shot.

Technical: Decent lighting, composition is good considering the angle. Wondering if a little more of a zoom-in might help isolate your subject a bit more. Would like to see some dodging used in fg just to balance out the scene, it looks a little too undefined. But then it does work with the fadeout effect.

Overall: A good solid entry that does a fine job of meeting the challenge. It just needs a little more pop to it to give it that extra je ne sais quoi.

Feel free to PM me.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: 'Aha another Posty lensbaby shot'...and I was right :-)

Artistic: Intriguing find in terms of the tree and rock, amd good treatment to give it a little of posty spin.

Technical: A bit dark but that adds to the mood. Comp ok but centred. I'm hard-pressed to see much T/S going on, though.

Feel free to PM me.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: Does indeed look like a Lego car factory! All the cranes, the buildings etc do indeed like tiny. Quite impressive

Artistic: Colourful and eye-catching, great use of the T/S effect.

Technical: Good lighting, comp a little centred but understandable considering the point you wanted to make and the sheer size of the complex. The only thing I'd possibly like to change is a slight more of a fade-out effect, you can see where the T/S ends a little too much in the bg. But that's fairly minor. Your settings are perfectly fine for a handheld shot on a sunny day.

Overall: Great concept and very good execution. Glad to see you finished just below 6 with this image. Keep up the good work and keep shooting!

Feel free to PM me.
