Little Lupoby RulerZigzagComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I have to agree with the commenter on this one - cute dog but the pp kills the shot. It's more noticeable than the dog, and the post work should only be there to support the pic, never overwhelm it. I gave this shot a 3 in voting for that reason alone.
Apart from the pp the actual dog is quite cute. But there is too much background and too little foreground, the paws are right on the bottom of the frame. The angle of the sidewalk draws the eye away from the subject. I do like that you tried to get a low pov, that's a step in the right direction.
Hope this has been useful, feel free to pm me

Gallardo Superleggera by GeorgesBogaertComment: Not surprised you had to get down to worm's-eye view on this one...that baby is pretty low-slung. Love this pic. Well done on the blue! |

Red by Yo_SpiffComment: Loving the tease here, all the nice tones of red, red car, etc...and yet we can barely see the car itself! Well done Spiffy! |

joieby posthumousComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I think DPC voters are chronically allergic to techniques involving stuff like zoomblur, long exposure, subject tracking...they seem to lerve their images clean, sharply focused and usually saturated to death. *cough cough a certain primarily seascape photog*
Anyway I think that's the main problem here, cause I can feel myself running alongside or just behind Joie, trying to keep up with an unleashed dog running and shooting at the same time! Maybe the light is a teeny bit on the blown-out side; the dog's face, were it towards us, would probably have helped this image score higher. Comp and lighting are suitable for the subject.
Hope this has been helpful
