I like the sun ray capture. Color and exposure look good. For a matter of giving the photo a bit more interest, I would crop out the pole and perhaps add a bit of the horizon at the very bottom of the photo.

You're definitely not doing bad. I've seen BAD photography and this is not bad :-)
