You could have used a light source on the right as well. Your composition is not bad, but would be improved IMO by creating a shape with all of your objects such as having them move from one diagonal to another, etc.

Very nice portrait. Curious why you didn't enlarge to max. I like to have the largest image/file possible for each challenge. That gives the voters the best chance to see my work (such as it is :) In case you are not aware, max is 640 pixles on the longest side unless otherwise stated.

I assume the broken crayon implies a bad outcome to this scenario. If that is the case, then your lettering could have been a little more desperate and rushed - not so well shaped and even. Picture is a little grainy. Did you shoot at a higher ISO? Probably want to stay below 800 unless you are intending grain.
