I like this. Another idea would be to have the flame lit along with the outside of the balloon, but the inside desat. That way the flame would stand out a little more.

We always want to blame her, don't we? Your apple edges are a bit sharp. Try using a softer brush. Also, the blurring of the hands causes my eye to be distracted. Usually something shot on the same plane will have the same focus.
