Often when I see a sunset and it looks so good that I want to photo it, the result just doesn't do it justice. I can't seem to get the atmosphere of the sunset the way I had seen it in real life. I think that you have experienced the same situation here, the actual sunset had a lot more impact than the image you captured of it.
