V i g i l a n tby ShaneBlakeComment: Great photo of a bird in captivity. Memphis zoo shot. Okay, but it is cropped to conceal all evidence of captivity. You didn't shoot this in the wild, nor were you required to do so. But, you offered a presentation that implies this is a wild and free bird. I accept the photo for what it is. |

I'm standing on a steep moraine. There is no tilt, although the slope is steep. Tripod is squared. Camera is squared. This image is absolutely level. |

forget me not by ubiqueComment: Front page, ribbon shot of an elephant's posterior, center-middle composition with heavy dark vignette on the edges. Wow! Congratulations on your ribbon. It's a masterpiece! |

Indigenous Peopleby hahn23Comment: Originally posted by nygold: In a single image you were able to take a once proud people and reduce them to looking like carny folk panhandling at a flea market.
I like the colors and under the harsh lighting conditions the image came out pretty good, but overall I find the image rather depressing.
I have to bump this up a bit because you did evoke an emotion and that̢۪s what it̢۪s all about. |
This challenge was supposed to be a candid shot. You don't understand the circumstances and you are out of line to criticize this situation. Also, it was taken at high elevation, so the light is often harsh because there is little pollution and humidity to diffuse light. |

Growing at the Angle Of Reposeby hahn23Comment: Originally posted by tanguera: A view like this can only be a Hahn. While beautiful, I am not seeing the geometry in this. One could argue that the geometry is everywhere, in everything. But that is the problem with themed challenges. I think voters, for better or worse, respond better to specifity |
Specifically, the geometry is angle of repose. Sorry you didn't comprehend. |

Standing Tallby hahn23Comment: Originally posted by NiallOTuama: I don't understand how you didn't run when you saw this guy! He's terrifying. |
Thanks for your comment. Black bears (the species) avoid human contact. They run the other way when encountering a human. Totally gentle and mostly vegetarian. Not to be confused with grizzlies, brown bears and polar bears farther north. Those species do stalk humans, when they get a chance. |

Wow!
I can almost hear his thoughts!
But... I suspect that if I showed you this image... and... asked you to give me thirty two-word descriptions of this image... "right angle" would not be one of them.
I hope I'm wrong. |
Bear stands at right angle to normal pose. |
