Canadian Gooseby scooter97Comment: A pest everywhere, I think. Big birds that the Mountain Lions like to kill at night in Colorado. The ML's swim very well and the Canada geese sleep when they should be on the alert for predators. Nice feather detail on this Canada Goose. |

Green Wing Tealby scooter97Comment: I love the colors on these birds, especially the male. Your distant shot is better than my distant shot. Always nice to see both sexes in one frame. Well done! |

DSC_0533by cynthiannComment: The pale eye and irridescence on body and wings would indicate this might be a Common Grackle, Quiscalus quiscula. Year round residents in your part of the country. Angry bird shot. Emotive photo. LOL!!!! Message edited by author 2012-04-05 17:06:49. |

Thanks for all your comments. I'm sort of like those guys in The Big Year. Obsessed with the birding. And, I love it. I do have an advantage because I live so close to Rocky Mountain National Park. And, I do serve as one of the official BIrd Walk Leaders for the park-sponsored ranger activities. Not a ranger, just a volunteer local birding expert. LOL!!!! Anyway, I think others will give me a run for number of species. Hope DirtDiver catches up with updating the forum thread. I'm sure he will as his time permits. |

Cardinalby scooter97Comment: Full breeding plumage. The cardinals are not found in the CO mountains. It is a bird I miss, especially when I need a color accent in winter. |
